Instead of maintaining the laws that protect our water and our health, the legislature wants to weaken or roll back these protections! Our leaders must not move our state backwards.

As the Minnesota Legislature ended their 2011 regular session and prepares for a Special Session, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership (MEP) vowed to stay vigilant in its commitment to protect Minnesota’s Great Outdoors.
As of May 24, 2011, the following legislation has been sent to the Governor. Various provisions that make exemptions for special interests have been highlighted.
MEP today sent a letter to Governor Mark Dayton asking for his veto of H.F. 1010.
Standing before a laundry rack displaying more than 40 legislative bills, leaders of the Minnesota Environmental Partnership and concerned citizens today called for an end to the assault on Minnesota’s Great Outdoors and Clean Energy Future.
MEP will “air the dirty legislation” that threatens Minnesota’s Great Outdoors. These bills threaten to unravel Minnesota’s protections for wild rice, Lake Pepin, the Mississippi River, Minnesota’s Clean Energy Future, and much more.
“We are disappointed today that both the House and Senate passed Omnibus Environmental Finance bills that include disproportional cuts and extraneous policy provisions that threaten Minnesota’s protections to our lakes, rivers and streams.”
“The House and Senate budget bills are an embarrassing attempt to unravel Minnesota’s Great Outdoors legacy to solve a short-term budget gap.”
We are disappointed that H.F. 1 will become law. This was a reasonable idea gone bad.
