A form of mining with a long history of causing toxic pollution in other states is being proposed in Minnesota. This new type of mining for Minnesota raises many questions, including whether mining companies can ensure their operations won’t cause serious and long-term water pollution; whether current regulations are strong enough to protect our lakes, rivers, streams and public health, as well as our taxpayers; and whether Minnesota has fully implemented its own recommended safeguards for this kind of mining.
