Now more than ever, Minnesota must reduce our dependence on imported dirty energy like oil, gas and coal, and continue to support the development of a renewable energy economy in our state, one based on homegrown sources of energy like solar power. Initiatives to spur manufacturing, development and installation of solar projects in Minnesota will transform our state’s economy, creating good, family-supporting jobs that can’t be outsourced. Establishing a 10 percent Solar Electricity Standard, to require that Minnesota produce at least 10 percent of our electricity needs from solar power by the year 2030, is a common sense policy that will secure a clean energy future for our children and grandchildren.
